CSC – Common Services Centre programm is an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India.
CSCs are easy access points for delivery of various digital services to rural and urban people in India, thereby contributing to a digitally and financially inclusive society.In rural India, CSCs are not just service delivery points, but changing agents too, promoting rural entrepreneurship and building rural capacities and livelihoods.CSC e-Governance Services India Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956 which provides a centralized collaborative framework for delivery of services to citizens through CSCs, besides ensuring systematic viability and sustainability of the scheme. The CSCs offer web-enabled e-governance services in rural areas, including applications for Passport, Pancard, Aadhaar, Voter ID, Ration Card etc , various Government certificates, and utility payments such as electricity, telephone and water bills. People can access high quality and cost-effective video, voice and data content and services, in the areas of e-governance, education, health, telemedicine, tele-law, entertainment as well as other private services through CSCs.

CSC has been implemented in PPP (Public Private Partnership) Framework. Some of the major goals of this scheme are:
- Placement of a focus on entrepreneurial endeavours in rural regions
- Providing services not just to the public sector but also to the private sector
- Particular weight is placed on the requirements of the community.
- Offering a means of living while also playing a vital part in the development of India’s rural areas
- Provides function as a mediator for a variety of governmental and non-governmental services
- A one-stop shop for a variety of G2C and B2C Services.
The number of centres operating under the Common Services Centre system in India’s urban and rural regions reached 5.1 million by the end of the country’s fiscal year 2022. The Public Private Partnership is based 3- on a tiered structureÂ
- It will be the responsibility of the State Designed Authority to manage and execute the CSC services throughout the state.Â
- The Common Service Centre (CSC) will be established by the Service Centre Agency (SCA), which will also be in charge of selecting suitable sites for the CSC with the assistance of the CSC’s owner. This will play a part in promoting the CSC in rural areas via several promotion efforts that will be carried out at the state or municipal level. The SCA is responsible for the 500–1000 CSCs that will work under his supervision.
- The person in charge of the CSC is the Village Level Entrepreneur. 6 Villages will fall under him.
